Migros public WLAN: Up to 50,000 simultaneous users

Taking over Migros’ public wireless LAN (WLAN) was an exciting project for WLAN Partner: with around 1400 locations, about 25,000 access points and up to 50,000 simultaneous WLAN users, it presented a number of challenges. We are very pleased to have successfully brought the project to fruition with the Migros team.

Making M more mobile with sponsoring portal

The Swiss retail company Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund (MGB) was faced with the problem that a large number of employees’ mobile devices needed to be managed at different locations. To do so, Migros successfully uses Mobile Device Management (MDM) from AirWatch. So that it is possible to use the MDM solution throughout the entire lifecycle, the use of wireless LAN at Migros requires registration data to be administered practically and simply. The sponsoring portal Application Programming Interface (API) acts as a bridge, thus allowing WLAN registration data to be created, mutated and deleted.

Free wireless LAN on the Gornergrat Bahn

Passengers travelling on the Gornergrat Bahn (GGB) and the Täsch-Zermatt shuttle train operated by Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn) have had access to continuous free wireless LAN on their journey from Täsch to the Gornergrat since early December.
